Music

This generation is fueled by our iPods. Isn't it true? Just take a look around; music is everywhere!

Music can either have an uplifting or a devastating effect on our faith. God designed music to glorify his name so why would we want to use it for anything less? I encourage you to look through your musical collection and throw out anything that is filled with profanity, violence, and sexual perversion.  As much as we say, "I only listen to it for the beats!' or 'I don't pay attention to the words...' The truth is this: music is one of the most powerful tools in the world because it can influence our moods, emotions, and our heart. It bypasses the brain and goes straight into the soul whether you like it or not.  Why would we want to fill our soul with filth?  Let's fill our soul with music that will bring true and lasting joy!

I believe it is vitally important to provide our youth with awesome, relevant, and powerful Christian music.  The problem is that we aren't aware of any 'cool' Christian bands... I've done a little research, because I am a huge fan of music, and I have compiled some links to some of my favorite groups.

I challenge you to quit listening to secular music for 30 days. During these 30 days ask God to fill your heart with true joy that only comes from the Holy Spirit. Only listen to Christian music that focuses your heart on Jesus. If you don't see a change in your relationship with the Lord then you can go back to the old way of life. However, if you discover that your zeal for God has increased and your love for Jesus is growing stronger, then I challenge you to never listen to secular music again... I took this challenge a few years ago and I never looked back.
